All of my life, I always had stomach issues. My parents said as baby I was very hard to burp, and I grew up with a lot of stomachaches and being gassy all the time. One day, I looked up a lot of my symptoms and I realized that I probably have gastritis ! As I was looking up and joining Facebook groups, I saw a few people had what I had back in 2012 which is H. Pylori. H. Pylori is a overgrowth of bacteria in the digestive system that causes ulcers and when I saw other people have it, I was relived that I wasn’t the only one, and sadly being so sick and on strong antibiotics that made me very sick. I basically lost a job over H. Pylori.
Growing up with poor digestion, it’s very hard to tell people how sick you really are. It’s always questions what did you eat, or you’re just faking it. Having Gastritis has affected my life with dating, going out with friends, going to parties, and trying new foods. Having this disease there has been times where I’ve had to cancel and men wouldn’t be understanding and never call me again, I had to cancel plans I’ve made with friends weeks in advanced because my stomach decided to flare up on me, I can’t even drink at parties anymore without getting sick, and I’m always scared to try new restruants or eat very safe foods especially traveling because I’m always scared to get sick from the food. – Haley Lambert
